What is Art Counseling?

Art Counseling is a form of psychosocial counseling in which creative methods can support the counseling process.

It’s not about being artistically talented or creating “beautiful” pictures.

Rather, colors, shapes, symbols, and creative processes can help make thoughts, feelings, and inner processes visible, develop new perspectives, and discover your own resources.

You decide for yourself at any time how creatively you want to work. Some sessions include creative elements, others consist mainly of conversation. Both are equally welcome.

Who is Art Counseling suitable for?

Art Counseling can support you with:

  • personal development
  • self-reflection
  • stress and feeling overwhelmed
  • decision-making
  • self-worth and self-care
  • life changes
  • relationship and life issues
  • resource activation
  • creative personal development

Everyone brings their own story. That’s why each session is individually tailored to your needs.

What Art Counseling is not

Art Counseling does not replace medical, psychiatric, or psychotherapeutic treatment.

If you are experiencing an acute psychological crisis or need medical or psychotherapeutic treatment, please contact an appropriately qualified professional.

My understanding of counseling

I consider counseling as a protected space where thoughts, feelings, and life issues can be explored without judgment.

I don’t provide ready-made solutions. Instead, I accompany you in discovering your own answers, resources, and possible courses of action.

We work as equals. You decide at any time which topics you want to bring up and how far you want to go.

Creative methods

Depending on your concerns, the following methods, among others, may be used:

  • painting and drawing
  • collages
  • writing and journaling
  • imagination and body-awareness exercises
  • creative reflection methods
  • conversation-based counseling methods

The selection is always made together and is based on your personal concerns.

Training and supervision

I am currently training to become an Art Counselor specializing in art and design therapy.

To ensure a high quality of my work, my counseling activities are regularly supervised professionally.

No personal data is shared in this process. If individual situations from a session are discussed, this is done exclusively in anonymized form.

Confidentiality

Everything we discuss within the counseling sessions is treated confidentially.

This does not affect any legal obligations to provide information or report.

Voluntary participation

Participation in Art Counseling is voluntary.

You decide at any time about your topics, your pace, and which exercises or creative methods you would like to try.
